Even before I started school, I enjoyed playing Monopoly with my family. My daddy was the battleship, my mama was the thimble (sometimes the iron), my older sister was the canon, and I was the car. I loved speeding around the board collecting blocks of properties and erecting lovely green houses and shiny red hotels. When I was required to determine the amount of rent to pay for a utility, I had to trust my parents to do the multiplication for me. When my sister would ask me to buy Boardwalk for what I paid for it, I got the uneasy feeling that I should be paid extra for holding the property. When my mother believed I was greedy for buying everything I landed on, respectfully I thought I knew better. When my father noted that I had memorized the board and had remembered all of the prices, he smiled with incredulity. I learned early on that the buying and selling of real estate was a culture of trust, competition, and savviness. Knowing the market, operating in good faith, and developing fair transactions is my way of ensuring your satisfaction during your next real estate sale or purchase.
